India Bleeps Austin Powers Out The film censor board in India has ordered that the most crucial word in the movie "Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me" must be cut for the film to be released there next month. The board says the word "shag" is too crude for Indian audiences and whenever it's used during the film it will be bleeped out. Even the film title will simply be called "Austin Powers Two". The film's distributor, Warner Brothers, isn't challenging the cuts. The BBC Delhi correspondent says the censor board is very strict with the depiction or discussion of sex. Recently cuts were ordered in the British film "Elizabeth" but its Indian director, Shakur Kapoor, is refusing to make them. August 24, 1999 Copyright © 2002, British Broadcasting Corporation |
